Super Bowl Sunday, NBA All-star Weekend, The Olympics, Home Run Derby, The Grammy’s, Emmy’s, Oscar’s, and Tony’s. Then there are company events, seminar training, and industry events. What do they have in common? They are events where the top performers, producers, and leaders attend. They show up!

Now let me ask you a question. If professional athletes, professional entertainers, and industry leaders attend events… why aren’t you showing up? They show up to all-star games, the after-parties, and award recognition events. They show up to charity functions, professional breakfasts, and luncheons. Yet you stay at home wondering why you haven’t made any sales. Attending events is an ingredient in your success recipe.

You should attend your company’s event. Find a way to just show up! Now some events may be all about the product pushing and snatching all the cash out your wallet seminars. But you should still go. By now you should know the difference between an event that is there to train, aspire, and help you grow and the events that are there just to get your money.

1. You Get Inspiration – You get inspired by hearing other people’s success stories. You may find someone who is in the same situation you are in. Take pictures and videos with these people and post them on your blog and video channels. A bonus is since they have achieved success you know it can be done. Nothing should hold you back.

2. Hands-On Training – You can get hands-on training and meet the leaders in breakout sessions. Depending on what industry you are in and what company you are a part of there will be plenty of activities around to help you grow your business. 1 on 1 session with your sponsor, team meetings, and seminars hosted by top producers.

3. Lunch and Dinner – During lunch and dinner breaks you can hang with leaders and share stories. You can network. You may get invited by a top producer and eavesdrop on how he made it to the top. Better yet your sponsor may have a private dinner planned where he gathers his team to show his appreciation. There are tons of testimonies where people just went out to drink and formed valuable friendships.

4. Edification on Stage – Be edified as a leader. Your story is special and now the pictures and videos of you addressing the crowd will be on everyone’s Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter feeds. You will get surrounded by fans and become a celebrity for a short time. This helps you because you can market this experience. You show up on other blogs and videos. This makes you an authority.

5. New Ideas – You will get new ideas and insights that you can immediately implement in your business. This is where partnerships are formed. This is where joint ventures are created. 5.5 Motivated Beyond Reason – Most people leave these events motivated beyond reason. You will be fired up! You showed up and were inspired. Now is the time to take massive action, carry that momentum into a plan, and implement it ASAP. The thrill of the event will soon pass and you need to capitalize on this newfound energy.

After I attended my first event I made more sales the following week than I had the previous month. I was on fire. The lessons I learned there I put them into action. I took a video with leaders and posted it on my blog.

In my real estate office, we have Quarterly Breakfast Events. I never attended the events because I thought it was a waste of time. Our broker recognizes the top agents and he hands out prizes. He also has an industry leader speak and train. We get breakfast, edification on stage, and top-notch training. Plus we get to snooze with other agents.

I went to a couple of the events and I noticed the same top producers attending. One agent sells 100+ homes per year and I spoke with him. He said he never misses an event because he learns something new each time. He wants to grow his business more and more.

Successful people always attend events. They bring their teams, employees, and families. I never understood the power of events until my bank account started growing after I attended. Now I don’t miss an event in my company or industry.

This is the time when you commit to attending events. There are no excuses. Don’t have any money? That’s your fault. You started a business for a reason. Sacrifices have to be made. I remember scraping and saving weeks before the event. I had to find a cheaper hotel miles away and barely had enough money to eat.

Attending events is a priority. I don’t know your situation but you have to decide to attend events. You have to make a choice and then do whatever it takes to attend that event. I have never met a real estate agent, affiliate marketer, or direct sales marketer who was successful and did not attend events. The power of events will change your business. But don’t just attend. Take action after the event and never miss one again.
