Artificial Fences and Your Success

You are the success of your business. You may have partners, affiliates, employees, or a down line. But it is you who determines the outcome. It is you who decides what the result will be. Sadly some never decide to be successful. They put up artificial fences around their business. Their self-limiting beliefs stop them from achieving success.

You must tear down your artificial fences. Your belief system is the fuel to your business vehicle. Self-confidence is your greatest ally or your worst enemy. Thoughts are things and your thoughts manifest themselves in your physical world.

Your thoughts produce your actions and your actions produce your habits. You may not know that your thoughts are producing self-limiting beliefs. Your childhood has influenced the way you think about things. Your experience has made you the person you are now. I don’t know what situation you are in but I am writing to tell you that your artificial fences must come down for you to prosper.

What are your artificial fences? Is it public speaking? Have you failed at a business? Do you think that making a lot of money is wrong? Do you think being happy is selfish? Do you compare yourself to others? Do you think that you have to compromise your values to create wealth? Do you think you are not smart enough, tall enough, too fat, or too short? These are artificial fences that are not true. These are lies and false perceptions.

Artificial Fences and Self-Limiting Beliefs

Artificial Fences

Self-limiting beliefs are like an automatic temperature gauge. For example, your success set point is 72 degrees. When your gauge dips below 70 degrees you go into overdrive. You aggressively get back to your set point. If your gauge goes above 72 degrees and gets to 75 or 76, you sabotage yourself. You miss meetings, fail to follow up, or just shut down. Don’t be afraid to outgrow yourself.

Your set point is why you only make a certain amount of money each year in your business. It’s not the product or service or the company or clients. It’s you and you have to break your set point and banish your artificial fences.

6.5 Quick Ways to Tear Down Your Artificial Fences

1. Pick up the Book Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz – I have all my team members read this book when they start their businesses. I know my artificial fences and self-limiting beliefs. Happiness is a habit, so is controlling your thoughts, and using accurate knowledge. You must raise your self-image.

2. Visualize your goals and outcomes – See yourself succeed. Spend 15-30 minutes per day imagining the person you want to become. Thoughts are things and you are now using your imagination. It may take some time for you to see clearly but keep at it. Picture yourself in a movie and you are watching yourself, making sales, speaking on stage, and enjoying your vacations.

Everything created began with a thought. Someone’s imagination has brought those thoughts into reality. Use this same power for your business and break free from your artificial fences.

3. Act like you are successful – Now that you are visualizing your success go ahead and act it out in the real world. You play out past failures, worries, and imagined slights all the time. These negative emotions feel as real today as they were 1, 5, 10, 20 years ago. Why not use those emotions to act out your success? Use those same emotions to create a better present. Act as if you are successful now. It works both ways.

4. Forget Your Failures and Forge Ahead – A failure is an event and not a prison sentence. You plan for the future but you live in the present. Live by facts and not opinions. You have failed at many things. But you are not a failure! When you fail let it go, learn from it, and move on. You can’t change the past but you have the power to create new successes.

5. Stop, Look, and Listen – Focus on one task at a time. In this multi-tasking world, people become, overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated, and depressed. Our subconscious mind can multi-task but our conscience mind can not. Just try writing an article and talking on the phone at the same time. How long does it take to finish that article?

6. Persistence – After you read Psycho-Cybernetics persist in tearing down your artificial fences. Just like an athlete has to practice his sport you must practice self-confidence, accurate thought, and creating successful habits. It takes work.

6.5 Bonus Material – Choose happiness, success, and enthusiasm now. Success is not a future thing. Success lives in the present. Most people always put off their happiness until the future. Don’t do that. You live in the present and so does your success.

Implement these six steps now. Next week I will show you 5.5 more ways to tear down your artificial fences.
